On May 1st, 2025, the Orege Football Pitch in Ajegunle, Lagos State, came alive with talent, passion, and hope as over 150 young footballers gathered for the highly anticipated Next-Gen Scouting Programme, hosted by the MacSamuel Foundation. The event was nothing short of a triumph — a celebration of grassroots football and a powerful reminder of the transformative role sports can play in shaping futures.
The Vision Behind the Programme
At the heart of this impactful initiative is Mr. Samuel Anyaegbu, CEO of the MacSamuel Foundation. A firm believer in the potential of Nigeria’s youth, Mr. Anyaegbu created the Next-Gen Scouting Programme to identify and nurture young talent, offering them a real shot at achieving their dreams through football.
His vision? To use sports — especially football — as a tool for empowerment, discipline, and social mobility.

A Day Full of Energy, Talent, and Purpose
The Orege Pitch was buzzing with excitement as aspiring players put their skills to the test in front of professional scouts, coaches from other academies, and representatives from the MacSamuel Football Academy. The presence of Ajegunle locals, who came out in full support, added to the electric atmosphere, reminiscent of the legendary football culture the community is known for.
And Ajegunle didn’t disappoint. It once again proved itself to be Nigeria’s football goldmine, following in the footsteps of producing stars like Samson Siasia, Taribo West, and Odion Ighalo.

Several standout players were recognised for their performances:
🏆 Victor Ngamnodinmma – Crowned Most Valuable Player (MVP) with 3 goals and 1 assist.
🛡️ Solomon Anunobi & Oyowole Ogungbe – Honoured as Best Defensive Pairing for their composure and strategic gameplay.
🎯 Martin Ronaldo – Named Best Midfielder for his vision, creativity, and command of the field.
These young players weren’t just playing football, they were making statements, writing their own stories, and stepping closer to their dreams.
